路线
日复一日
-
Kilimanjaro International Airport → Arusha Lodge
Road • 00:45h
A gentle introduction to the African landscape as the foothills of Mount Meru greet you.
AFTERNOON
A representative meets you at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfers you directly to your lodge in Arusha. The city recedes quickly as your vehicle winds toward the foothills, and by the time you arrive, the pace of the journey has already begun to slow. Mount Meru is visible through the canopy, and the garden is quiet in the late afternoon light. This is not yet the bush, but it is the beginning of Africa.
EVENING
Dinner is served at the lodge as the equatorial night falls quickly and completely. A cold drink, a warm meal, and the sound of the African night outside the window. Tomorrow brings the flight north, and the Serengeti waits.
Where you'll stay
-
Arusha → Kogatende Airstrip
Flight • 01:45h
The savannah unfolds beneath you as you leave the city behind, drifting into the northern reaches.
-
Kogatende Airstrip → Northern Serengeti Camp
Road • 00:30h
A short drive through plains already thick with game, your guide waiting to welcome you.
MORNING
The flight from Arusha to Kogatende in the Northern Serengeti takes less than two hours, but covers a transformation. Below, the city gives way to farmland, and the farmland gives way to savannah, and the savannah opens into something that seems to have no edge. You land on a grass airstrip and your guide is waiting. The drive to camp passes through plains already thick with game zebra in herds, Thomson's gazelle sprinting, a secretary bird stalking the grass with enormous seriousness.
AFTERNOON
The afternoon game drive heads directly toward the Mara River. The wildebeest are already massing at the crossing points, hundreds of thousands of animals moving in the instinctive patterns of a migration that has continued for a million years. Your guide knows this river and its rhythms well, and positions you where the drama is most likely to unfold. When the crossing begins, you watch in silence, side by side, as one of the planet's great natural events happens just metres from where you sit.
EVENING
The drive back to camp as the sun drops below the horizon is one of those journeys that needs no conversation. The day speaks for itself. At camp, sundowners are waiting, and then dinner under an enormous sky. Optional: Hot Air Balloon Safari A pre dawn ascent over the Northern Serengeti plains, floating silently above the migration herds. After landing, a champagne bush breakfast in the field. USD 500 per person.
Where you'll stay
MORNING
The morning game drive leaves camp in the dark, reaching the river at first light. The northern ecosystem rewards those who rise early lions are most active before the heat climbs, and the golden hour light that settles across the plains for the first hour after dawn is something entirely its own. A pair of lions has made a kill overnight; vultures and hyenas work the edges while two young males feed unhurriedly at the centre. Your guide keeps a respectful distance and explains the hierarchy of the scene with quiet precision.
AFTERNOON
After a full lunch break at camp, the afternoon drive explores the broader northern landscape kopjes, luggas, and open corridors where cheetahs hunt. The migration herds continue to move, and the river remains active at multiple crossing points. Your guide monitors radio channels from other vehicles and brings you to the most promising location as the afternoon's heat begins to ease. A sundowner stop on a natural rise, cold gin and tonic, and the Serengeti spread endlessly below.
EVENING
Dinner beside the fire as the temperature drops pleasantly. The sounds of the bush are different at night more layered, more immediate. Tomorrow you begin the journey south, deeper into the ecosystem. Optional: Hot Air Balloon Safari A pre dawn ascent over the plains, drifting silently above the migration, followed by champagne breakfast in the bush. USD 490 per person.
Where you'll stay
-
Northern Serengeti Camp → Central Serengeti Camp
Road • 03:30h
A morning of transition, passing through riverine forest and open plains as the ecosystem shifts south.
MORNING
The drive south from Kogatende to the central Seronera region takes most of the morning and offers extraordinary game viewing along the way. The corridor between north and south is used by the migration herds as they follow the seasonal rains, and the road passes through landscapes of enormous variety dense riverine forest giving way to open plains, then rocky inselbergs rising from the grass. A family of elephants crosses ahead of the vehicle with complete indifference to your presence.
AFTERNOON
You arrive in the central Seronera valley in time for lunch, and the afternoon game drive begins immediately in what is arguably the finest big cat territory in Africa. Two leopards have been reported in the acacia woodland along the river, and your guide knows exactly where to look. One is found within the hour, draped across a branch with a watchful, amber gaze. The light in the afternoon is warm and low, and the photographs almost take themselves.
EVENING
Camp in the central Serengeti has a different feel from the north less dramatic, perhaps, but richer in detail. The bird life is spectacular, the sunsets are wide and slow, and the fire burns low while dinner is served. A good place to spend two nights. Optional: Hot Air Balloon Safari A pre dawn ascent over the plains, drifting silently above the migration, followed by champagne breakfast in the bush. USD 490 per person.
Where you'll stay
MORNING
An unhurried morning, beginning with coffee and the first light over the plains. The central Serengeti rewards those who take their time, and today there is nothing to rush toward. The morning drive follows the Seronera River, where hippos grunt from pools and crocodiles lie motionless on the banks. A pride of twelve lions rests in the shade of a fig tree, cubs tumbling over the adults with complete impunity. Your guide cuts the engine and you stay for longer than expected, because there is no reason to leave.
AFTERNOON
The afternoon takes you further into the open plains, where the horizon seems impossibly wide. Thomson's gazelle fawn in the tall grass, a serval appears briefly at the road's edge, and then as the light begins to turn golden a young male cheetah makes a sprint through the grass that ends with a successful kill. It is the kind of moment that happens without warning, and that stays with you for years.
EVENING
This is the last night in the Serengeti, and it deserves acknowledgment. A private dinner is arranged by the fire, with your guide's favourite stories of the ecosystem over fifteen years of guiding to fill the evening. Tomorrow, the Crater.
Where you'll stay
-
Central Serengeti Camp → Ngorongoro Crater Rim Lodge
Road • 02:30h
景观从沙凡纳转移到高原森林,当你攀登到 krater 边缘时。
MORNING
The drive from the Serengeti to Ngorongoro climbs through the highlands, the landscape shifting from open savannah to highland forest as altitude increases. At the rim, the crater appears without warning twelve miles of enclosed ecosystem, three thousand feet below the rim, looking like a world that has been contained for your private viewing. The descent is steep and winding, and the bush closes around the vehicle as you enter the crater floor.
AFTERNOON
The Ngorongoro Crater is a place that produces superlatives naturally. Black rhino, one of the most endangered mammals alive, move through the open grass in pairs. A coalition of male lions four of them, with the dark manes that are the Crater's signature feature rests beside the central lake. Elephant bulls with tusks that almost touch the ground wade through the shallows of a hippo pool. The density of wildlife here is unlike anything encountered in the Serengeti, and it rewards a slow, attentive afternoon.
EVENING
The ascent back to the rim at sunset is a ceremony in itself. The crater catches the last light in layers, the floor darkening while the far walls are still gold. Dinner at your lodge on the rim, with the Crater spread below and two glasses of something cold to mark the final evening of a remarkable safari.
